Cold weather is coming — is your bike ready for it? Learn how a little maintenance now can keep your bike running smoothly all winter long.
Keep Your Bike Ready for Winter with Golden Sports
As the seasons change and temperatures start to dip, it’s the perfect time to give your bike a little attention before winter really settles in. Cold weather, moisture, and salt on the roads can be hard on components, and a bit of preventative care now will make sure your bike stays in top shape — whether you keep riding through the cold or hang it up until spring.
At Golden Sports, we always recommend taking advantage of this in-between time to bring your bike in for a Core Tune-Up. It’s the perfect seasonal check to make sure everything is safe, smooth, and running the way it should. We’ll go over the bike front to back — adjusting your brakes and drivetrain, checking bolt torque, giving everything a good wipe down, and making sure it leaves the shop clean and ready for whatever comes next.
A lot of riders underestimate how important it is to do this before winter. Road grime and moisture tend to find their way into every little corner of your bike, and that can lead to corrosion or performance issues if left unchecked. A quick service now helps prevent that and keeps everything working like new. And if we happen to get one of those surprise sunny weekends in the middle of winter (and we always do), your bike will be ready to roll at a moment’s notice — no last-minute issues, no sluggish shifting, just smooth, quiet performance.
If you’re planning to store your bike until spring, this is also a great time to have it cleaned and adjusted before putting it away. It’ll keep your drivetrain protected, prevent rust, and save you from needing a big tune-up when riding season kicks off again.
Of course, not everyone wants to stop riding when the temperatures drop — and for many, winter is the perfect time to move the training indoors. If you’re thinking about setting up a smart trainer this season, stay tuned. We’ll be posting a detailed comparison soon covering the most popular indoor trainers and training systems, breaking down what each one offers and how to choose the right setup for your space, goals, and budget.
At Golden Sports, we’re all about keeping riders rolling year-round — whether that means getting out for a crisp winter ride, setting up your indoor training space, or just making sure your bike stays in perfect shape until spring.
